Social housing - Ca' d'oro

Venezia, Italy - 2009

The program included a master plan for a large social housing settlement and related services; the project philosophy examines the theme of settling down as a form of relationship with the existing territory and an act of listening to the landscape. The clear and legible rule of the planimetric layout is completed in a moving system of green territorial plaques, a sequence of grassy clods that depart from the dune to protect the nearby highway and define and animate public spaces between buildings. The vertical system of the housing towers, whose height variety itself creates an urban character that gives identity to the place, is related, as a land-mark, with the extended territory that goes from the Alps to the Lagoon.
